About EDGE Volleyball Club Director and Coach Angela Spoja:
Coach Spoja started her career as a TCC Titan in 1992 and received First Team All League honors. She then went to Eastern Washington University on scholarship where she finished her collegiate career. Some of Coach Spoja’s records still stand at Eastern.
Coach Spoja has continued to play volleyball in the Puget Sound region in the competitive Women’s Open bracket in both six-on-six and two-on-two in beach volleyball.
Coach Spoja's women’s team No Limit, won the regional title the last four years and went on to nationals in the ‘A’ Division, finishing strong, ranking first through third in the nation. Coach Spoja is the expected winner in two-on-two sand volleyball tournaments. She has also had many top five finishes in the season finale in Seaside, Oregon. This is where pro teams from California come to compete each year.
Coach Spoja has focused on building a program in which Tacoma Community College players are recruited to play at four-year NCAA Division I and II programs. She is looking for players with strong work ethic, athletic ability, and the desire to learn. Having her players learn what it takes to build a team and rely on each other for success is one of the Coach Spoja's most important goals. With more than ten years of coaching club volleyball, high school volleyball, and starting her career as a student coach at Eastern, has prepared her very well for the task ahead at Tacoma Community College. Last year Coach Spoja started a Tacoma area club called “Club Edge”. The club did very well at Regionals, U18’s placing first in Silver division and U16’s placing third in the gold division. This is her fourth year as a lady Titan Coach. The Titans went undefeated in league games last season. Coach Spoja also earned Coach on the Year-Western Region award in 2006 and in 2007.
"We have some outstanding athletes signed on for the 2008-09 season, and are prepared to give the NWAACC volleyball teams a run for their money," said Coach Spoja. "I am very excited of the possibilities and the future for Titan Volleyball. I hope the community comes to support our team and see some amazing volleyball.
